Day 14 - 12 Juiillet - Col du Télégraphe, Col du Galibier.

Slept in. Got up slowly. Spoke some bad french. Went and climbed a gigantic hill. Ate, slept, blogged. Ahhh.

Note to self: ride on the right hand side of the road. Fortunately this point was reinforced within a few hundred meters of home. (it helps to have other traffic as a reference!).:)

The two climbs together make the highest ascent in a single go for any climb in France. Or something. Anyway, in 30 degree heat it was always going to be tough, especially with some hard intervals on the first climb. Anyway... my eyes have been opened. What a monster. I cannot imagine racing up several of these things in the third week of a grand tour.

I will have to be careful not to overdo it this week! Seriously, there are so many rides I could do it would be easy to burn myself out before the Dolomites in a couple of weeks. Must be disciplined.

Straw sculpture au top du Col du Télégraphe.

On my way up Le Galibier.

Looks like I had the summit to myself...
But in reality I had a few friends to talk to.

Looking south from the Col du Galibier.

On my way back through Valloire I couldn't help but stop for the bizarre straw sculpture competition. I think this was Lithuania's entry... (seriously)
