Day 10 - Linz. The heatwave has broken.

What a difference 10 degrees celsius makes! Even though I was kept up all night by tram track repair work outside my window (!!!!) I couldn't wait to get outside in the cooler air.

Awesome riding this morning, really good. Found the perfect hill for intervals - I want to live in Linz! (Sorry for the untouched images - I've got a black scratch or mark on my phone camera lens which is obvious in some of these.)

Looking back towards Linz from the 'perfect climb' - 5km at an even 7%. Ideal for intervals.

Tucked into the middle of a hairpin bend was this small war memorial. It's pretty simple - just a list of names - but it struck me as a sad reminder of how it was the young who sacrificed the most. In a scene on the memorial the soldiers march forward, packs over their shoulders, but with an outstretched hand, palm upward. Are they asking for something or offering something (their lives?)? I couldn't help but get a bit reflective at this.

Spent the afternoon with the "Schnickschnacks" in Linz and Rotteneg. So good to see these guys. After a couple of trips around the Pöstlingberg grotto railway, a certain young lady was tuckered out. Cutest God daughter ever.

This is the Grotto.

Entrance to the Grotto - parents be warned!

Also got to see the place where Gregor and Lena got married! The people still remembered them 8 years on.

Early night tonight - off to Salzburg tomorrow for an awesome ride past some lakes, before 2 travel days (!!!) on Friday and Sat.
